The 1.9TD is quicker and more economical. If you want real grunt then the 2.5 TDI is the one to go for and if you dont care about speed and want economy the 1.9d is the one for you. I successfully replaced the diesel injectors on my 2.5 (2461cc) TDI, T4, AJT with Rakes PPO.5 injectors last weekend. Rake was helpful, answering questions pre and post sale. Hi had a friend just have a quick look at my engine in my 1996 t4 1.9 turbo diesel and he said that the turbo was not kicking in. we took the pipe connecting to the engine and that was not blocked and was clean and also checked the breather and air was coming out. it just doesnt seem to be working 3. a screw driver to undo the jubilee clips holding the feed and return hoses to the filter and whatever spanners you need to put the radiator service position, rags to soak up spilt drizzle. 4. you should wear some gloves to protect your skin from the diesel. Going off the engine number which begins with AJT it looks like it is the 88bhp variant. Fuse as you say is the 60A on top of the battery. Relay is position 12 (bottom row right) above the main fusebox inside the cab. The relay is timed by its earth from the small terminal controlled by the ecu pin 42. I think the AXD/AXE are the T5 first generation 2.5 engines, 130/174 PS, meeting Euro 3 emissions. In order to meet Euro 4, I think for the 2007 model year onwards they switched to BNZ/BPC, still 130/174, but now with the less than desirable DFP. Hi, I've had a lot of problems with white smoke recently and having done a lot of surfing and speaking to a few knowledgables the concensus is: White smoke = unburnt fuel. Black smoke =poor air/fuel ratio (i.e. partly combusted fuel, lots of soot) Blue smoke = oil. Which models had the 1.9 diesel engine . The 1.9 diesel engine is most commonly found in the VW Transporter T4 and T5. The Transporter T4 was sold as a 1.9D with 60BHP (up to 1995) and then was phased out with the later 1.9TD (turbo, indirect injection) which produced 7BHP more with the use of a turbo! 747 posts · Joined 2007. #1 · Jul 9, 2015. My engine has started rattling when you rev it up, its most noticeable above about 2k, it seems to be coming from the area near the crankshaft damper. I had a couple of mechanics listen to it and they suggested camshaft wear, even though it doesn't seem to come from there. Its selling for 4500£. Mileage is big though and that worries me.
