From 2017 to 2019 Husky had an engine with the same displacement but more power and less vibration, but now the 2019 690 has the same higher performance engine. So the displacement has always been the same, but the performance wasn't the same until 2019. Also the 690 has different electronics that KTM says are higher spec. 2017 for the 701. 2016 was the same engine as the 690 but the frame was designed for the balancer in the head engine which caused a lot of speculation on the 701 forums. Turned out to be true that the frame was ahead of the engine. I'm thinking that with the new gizmos coming on the 2019 690 it may be time to change from my 2016 701 to a 2019 690.
